Current approaches to the prevention and treatment of suicidal behaviour
Despite the complexity of suicidal behaviour, it is possible to define areas
of prevention and lines of treatment. These call for knowledge on the extent
of the phenomenon and general risk factors. It is necessary to assess subjects
with suicidal ideation, establish a management programme and start medication
and psychotherapy. An integrated, multidisciplinary approach is essential.
