Patient’s sex, therapist’s sex
After a brief historical background, this work considers the relevance of therapist gender to transference development and aims to evaluate if the principle of bisexuality of mind, or rather, the principle of neutraly of mind, can be applied to the analyst.
According the necessary to state this practically and to avoide violing the professional secrecy and the privacy of the psychotherapeutical relationship that do not allow an external observation, the author selected the scientific clinical articles written by female and male analysts from three internationally recognized reviews "The international Journal of Psychoanalysis", the "Revue Française de Psychanalyse" and the "Rivista Italiana di psicoanalisi". The comparison of these articles has been founded on a series of definite topics exploring those areas of the therapeutical relationship on which gender can specifically exert its influence.
