CItalopram: pharmacological profile and clinical efficacy of the most selective
among SSRI
Citalopram is the most selective among SSRI with a favourable pharmacokinetic
profile, a low potential for interactions with other concomitant medication
and a proven efficacy.
This review summarizes and evaluates clinical experience with citalopram. The low incidence of side effects, the good patient compliance and satisfaction make citalopram an attractive agent for the treatment of depression, especially among the elderly and patients with comorbid illness.
