The aim of the present study was to describe the clinical characteristics of 66 patients with a diagnosis of drug abuse and to assess life-time and intra-episode comorbidity.
Methods
66 patients were assessed by means of the DSM IV Clinical Structured Interview (SCID-I).
Result
High rates of comorbidity were found between drug abuse. Our preliminary data are in line with other published papers on the subject about the rates of comorbidity, but they aren’t about the distribuction of single disorder.
Conclusion
Psichiatric disorders may promote addicts to use drug of abuse in order to cure themselves. Psychopharmacological therapy is able to control coexistent psichiatric disorder which may become worse when addict decrease drug of abuse auto-administration.
