The authors review the diagnostic cathegory of schizoaffective disorders, laying between the two most significant psychopathological areas of psychiatry: the schizophrenic and manic depressive disorders. The authors believe that such a conflicting diagnostic cathegory should usefully be kept, in order to better address those patients who do not meet the criteria to be included whithin the large nosographic areas, from a diagnostic and a therapeutic standpoint.
