Neuroanatomia funzionale e molecolare: implicazioni comportamentali per le differenze di genere
Functional and molecular neuroanatomy: behavioral implications in gender differences

Neuroanatomical and molecular gender differences in the central nervous system of mammalians are reviewed with regard to recent advances in behavioral genomics and molecular imaging studies. New concepts such as the role of sry transcript and imprinted genes are discussed with focus on behavioral implications and gender identity. Developmental regulation by neurogenetic and pruning mechanisms has been chosen as methodological scalpel to dissect gender differential expression in functional and molecular neuroanatomy among different stages of life. Inferences from animal isomorphism are also addressed in order to better understand pathophysiological mechanisms related to anatomical and molecular gender differences in the central nervous system.
