The paper describes an open study of 20 psychotic patients treated with Olanzapine (OLN). OLN significantly improved patients overall psychopathology and global functioning. Their rate of response to OLN was similar to that observed with typical neuroleptics. However, the improvement of negative signs appeared to be higher. Patient compliance to treatment was excellent. Extrapyramidal side effects were absent or minimal. Weight gain was the most troublesome side effect.
