"A look and all started …". The love delusions
The author reflects on the clinical evolution of a patient with erotomanic delusions. Beginning with surgery, the reflection extends to psychopathology, covering domains ranging from the descriptive to the psychoanalytical to the biological one.
The author emphasizes that the emergence of the emotional component and its contents, as well as the structuring of personality are affected by affective bonds; decisive are the first relatives’ identifications. If the latter fail or undergo breakdown, different psychopathological modalities may appear as related to life experiences; one of these might be the delusional one. Love delusions discovers the emotional dimension like a personal way to stay in the world.
