Gli psichiatri vittime di pazienti molestatori segugi assillanti
Psychiatrists victims of stalkers

In the context of the therapeutic relationship between the physician, particularly the psychiatrist, and the patient, specific dynamics are established, at times triggered by the patient’s actions, who can show to possess the clinical characteristics of the stalker. In such case the patient's attitude towards the therapist is characterized by an intrusive and insistent attachment, by continuous attempts to have a contact with the physician, up to aggressive and threatening behavior. Such behavior arouses in the therapist different reactions, that vary from the presence of a light anxiety, irritation, even fear if the patient acts-out his threats. Some reactions of the psychiatrist represent some therapeutic errors in which he can incur when found to manage a difficult relationship with a patient affected by pathological attachment (stalker). Among these, there is the incapability to split the personal ghosts from the therapeutic demands, to manage his own ambivalence, his idealization by the patient, the incapability to manage the patient’s unrealistic demands, etc.
