Addiction and schizophrenic spectrum disorders
In the clinical practice, according to an integrated psychiatric approach, it is increasingly frequent to notice comorbid patients in serious psychopathological conditions with diagnoses of the schizophrenic spectrum and opiate and/or cocaine addiction. Therefore we have examined a sample of inpatients at Viarnetto Clinic, Lugano, Switzerland, during their hospital stay. We then followed the clinical evolution during at least one year to assess how antipsychotic treatment affects relapse of drug abuse.
