Recent reports describe emergent symptoms from discontinuation of SSRIs, including dizziness, nausea, irritability, agitation. Some of these symptoms are frequent while others are rare. We here describe the symptomatology observed in a case of abrupt paroxetine discontinuation. Six days after abrupt discontinuation of 20 mg daily oral paroxetine, taken for 4 consecutive months, a 36-years-old female teacher with panic disorder developed light-headedness, dizziness, sudden sadness and emotional instability, increased reactivity to emotional stimuli, unusually increased sexual drive.
