The image of gambling in the movies: a naturalistic study
Using movies gamblers as «clinical cases» the authors discuss about clinical
characteristics of Pathological Gambling. They focus on concerns about DSM-IV
TR diagnostic criteria, and relationships with other disturbs of obsessive-compulsive
spectrum and substance related disorders. This paper outlines the concrete possibilities
of this «atypical» method and suggests a more useful contact between cinema
and psychiatry.
