A clinical experience
After a wide review of the literature regarding genetic, epidemiologycal, psychiatric and psychodynamic studies on twins, the authors report a particularly significant clinical case.
The most important data are the following:

less diligent, more hyperprotective and intrusive maternal care for the schizophrenic twin;

the double symbiotic experience of the twins’ condition and mother’s role in promoting the overcoming of this problem;

the problems of twins’ rivalry;

the complex interference between real and phantasmatic relationships between the healthy and ill twin.
