Objective
The aim of this paper is to present the psychotherapeutic approach taylorized on patient’s needs, developed by Professor Gian Carlo Zapparoli.
Methods
Prof. Zapparoli’s theoretical and clinical proposal is presented while in comparison to other major psychotherapeutic approaches.
Results
Psychotherapeutic approaches are at risk of emphasizing their theoretical framework at the expense of patient needs. Herein, Prof. Zapparoli proposes a brief, focal and integrated psychotherapeutic approach that may reduce this risk.
Conclusions
It is possible to have a general psychotherapeutic approach that integrates different theories and techniques, with the aim to better respond to idiosyncratic patient’s needs.
